The Chateau de Madières is located in a grandiose environment, on the passage of the old Way of Spain; he was one of the sentries of the Causses and the Cévennes.

Its classification in 2011 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is exceptional recognition for an authentic region where man and nature are in perfect harmony.

Also listed as a Historic Monument, the Castle was mentioned for the first time in the archives during the reign of Philippe Auguste in 1181.
Built on the foundations of the first stronghold, the current Castle is a vast quadrilateral made up of three “V” wings, closed by a fortified wall into which opens a monumental entrance gate.
