This is our spacious but cosy bar. The bar, with its snug, and Traditional Irish Music sessions, is the ideal location to enjoy some locally grown oysters, washed down with a pint or two of the black stuff!

One of his short stories, M'Asal Beag Dubh, was set in Kinvara:

"It was in Kinvara I first got to know my little black ass. It was a fair day and there he stood by the ditch with his backside to the wind, headless of the world and the world of him......"

The bar is named after a story which Padraic O' Conaire once wrote. Padraic O' Conaire was a renowed Irish storyteller and one of the few modern writers in the Irish language to become popular. He is famous for his short stories and his simple phrase prose is O' Conaire's trademark.

The entrance into Kinvara is marked by the remarkable 'Dunguaire Castle', which is open to visitors from May to October, and in which are held Medieval Banquets.

The quaint harbour still holds working examples of 'Galway Hookers', the majestic sailing craft which used to ply their trade between Connemara & Kinvara, carrying turf.
