Historical attractions in the region include Glamis Castle, Scone Palace, Blair Castle, Castle Menzies, Stirling Castle, Braemar Castle (the Queen’s Scottish home) Barry Mill, Verdant Works, the Discovery and the Unicorn, Falkirk Wheel, Barry Mill, Abernethy Round Tower, Lindores Abbey, Dunkeld Cathedral, Falkland Palace, Dunnottar Castle and Rossie Priory (made famous by Tom Hanks and the film The Da Vinci Code).

Walking

The area is perfect for walking in the Perthshire Hills and the Angus Glens on the numerous forest tracks and mountain trails. Popular hill walking areas include Glen Isla, Glen Prosen, Glen Cova, Glen Doll and the famous Cateran Trail.

Fishing

Anglers can fish on the many rivers, lochs and reservoirs and there is salmon fishing on the Tay and the local rivers Ericht and Isla. The Estate also own Ledyatt Loch which lies a short distance south of the Dundee to Coupar Angus road, three miles west of Muirhead on rolling farmland commanding spectacular views over the Carse of Gowrie, Dundee, the Tay  estuary and beyond. The pay as you fish facility is managed by an experienced and knowledgeable bailiff and offers terrific sport in unparalleled surroundings.

Within an hour’s drive from the hotel you have over thirty or more golf courses to choose from, with the championship courses of St Andrews, Carnoustie and Rosemount (Blairgowrie) to nearby Alyth, Glenisla and Strathmore Golf courses.
