Braunton Burrows

Its just a 25min drive south west of Kentisbury to the village of Braunton.

“The pretty village of Braunton on the North Devon coast has a wealth of treasures that remain largely undiscovered by residents and visitors alike.

In addition to being part of the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it boasts one of only two surviving medieval open strip field systems in England, a vibrant history of shipping and links with the sea, was once on the route of the bustling Barnstaple to Ilfracombe railway line, which carried 10,000 passengers per day at times and, thanks to the magnificent Braunton Burrows, is now reputed to be the most biodiverse parish in England.”

Its beach has been voted one of Britain’s best and lies between Morte Point and Baggy Point. Combe Martin

To the north of Kentisbury it is 3 miles to the harbour beach of Combe Martin:

“Situated in a beautiful and fertile valley on the western edge of Exmoor, Combe Martin lies at the center of some of North Devon’s most spectacular scenery. The approach to Combe Martin, along the coastal road, offers the visitor glimpses of some of these stunning views. The two headlands of Great and Little Hangman dominate the scene which greets visitors to the village as they journey down to the pretty sheltered harbour below….

Combe Martin offers something for everyone including hours of fun rock pooling with the children, kayaking in the bay (available to hire on the beach). Fishing, either sea or course, walking the southwest coastal path which runs through the village, visiting the dinosaur park, coasteering and rock climbing , horse riding and much more.”
