Knockinaam Lodge Hotel
Formerly a Victorian period gun lodge, Knockinaam Lodge Hotel has an  award-winning restaurant and is also the nearest bar to Glencroft, certainly within gentle strolling distance.

The Mull of Galloway
All the way to the south of the peninsula is the Mull of Galloway, jutting out into the Irish sea. It’s well worth a visit for the spectacular views across to Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Glencroft woods
Just outside your front door are the woods adjacent to Glencroft. These were planted over time, starting more than 40 years ago. The current owner and her children, when they were very young, began by planting horse chestnut saplings grown from conkers. Other species planted by the hundred include cobnut, spruce, larch, birch, willow and monkey puzzle. The red deer like to nibble the tender shoots so it’s taken constant effort to keep it all growing.

The tree tunnels have been cultured and coaxed over the years with careful pruning and brashing to keep the walkways clear. They are, quite simply, magical places to walk and relax and to breath the woody, moss-scented air and see how the shafts of sunlight dance among the leaves and branches.
