Cottages for Romantics

Trefanny Hill with its traditional stone romantic cottages, walls draped in ivy, roses and other climbers, exudes a gentle, timeless quality. Each cottage is individual ~ and is warm, cosy, comfortable and beautifully furnished, with many antiques. Amongst the character cottage features, you will find oak beams, log fires, four posters and genuine antique brass beds.

Although the cottages have old world charm, they have DVD players, dishwashers, microwaves and fully equipped kitchens, etc. They range in size from one bedroom mini cottages, to two and three bedroom cottages for 3,4,5 and 6 (plus a cot). All the cottages have their own private lawn and garden, with adjacent, individual parking areas and fabulous views.

Lounges

Each lounge is warm, cosy, cottagey and beautifully furnished with good quality carpets and/or rugs, comfortable chairs and sofa with cushions and a footstool. There are wall lights, reading lamps, books, a colour TV, a combined VHS recorder/DVD player and a Radio Times. Board games, a radio, a CD player and binoculars are available on request. All the cottages have country fireplaces with either wood burners or coal and log fires (except Farthings' which has a ornamental, stone fireplace) and the option of coal effect electric fires.

Kitchens

As well as the essentials, including electric oven, hob and grill, fridge or fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drier*, electric kettle, toaster, hoover, iron and ironing board, the kitchens are equipped to a level which often amazes our visitors. Too many items to mention, these include a comprehensive set of cooking utensils ~ kitchen knives, chopping block, garlic press, etc., kitchen scales, wine cooler, cafetiere, spice rack and oven gloves, tea towels, hand towel, etc. etc. We also provide a full and generous set of cutlery, matching dinner and tea services, sherry, wine, champagne glasses and tumblers as well as a bone china, half tea set ~ and there is a welcoming tray laid with flowers, tea, coffee, and biscuits ready for your arrival.

Bedrooms

All the bedrooms are romantically furnished, with some antique furniture and pretty fabrics, including Laura Ashley and Sanderson. They have fitted carpets, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobes, chests of drawers and electric convector heaters. Comfortable beds with top quality mattresses are made up ready for your arrival with crisp, white, top and bottom cotton sheets and pillow cases, non allergenic pillows, duvets (blankets if you prefer) and cream or pretty, patchwork bedspreads. Hot water bottles and a hair dryer are also provided. Electric blankets and feather pillows are available on request as well as bed boards for any back sufferers.

Cots are also available on request although some bedrooms may be more suitable than others - please contact us for details. [Highchairs, stairgates, baby baths and bedrails are also available on request]. (Please note that as baby's bedding is so personal , we provide only a mattress for a cot).

Bathrooms

Each bathroom has a bathroom suite with either a bath and a separate shower or an electric shower over the bath. There is a bathroom heater, shaver point and heated towel rail with white, fluffy bath sheets and hand towels provided.

Electricity and Nightstore Heating

Electricity in the cottages is inclusive. All the cottages are heated by nightstore heating except for Tregarrick Mill which has gas central heating. Night store heating is included in the tariff from mid September until mid May, providing excellent background heating which is always left on during the winter months and guarantees you a warm, dry, comfortable cottage. Nightstores can be put on at other times for a small, extra charge.

Coal and Log Fires

A log fire is available on request. The fire will be laid ready for your arrival. A generous supply of dry logs for the open fires and wood burners will be placed in your log store and basket with kindling, firelighters and matches as well as one cwt of coal in the coal bunker and scuttle for the open fires. The weekly charge for this facility is £18.

Gardens

Each cottage has its own individual, private garden with lovely views and a display of floral colour almost every week of the year. The garden furniture includes a table, recliners and a sun umbrella. Barbecues are available on request.

Pets Welcome Cottages

If you are looking for dog friendly cottages in Cornwall, Trefanny Hill is a dog lover's paradise; and well behaved pets are more than welcome here by prior arrangement, provided that they are not allowed in the bedrooms or on any of the furniture. Stairgates can be provided where necessary! Please bring bedding and towels, etc. for your pet, and we ask that you do not leave them alone in the cottage whilst you are out or allow them to be noisy or annoy other guests. There are many superb walks from the cottages for both dogs and their owners! This being a farming area, please do not allow your dog out on its own; and we also request that owners clear up after their pets, for which a poop bin is provided. Thank you. There is a charge of £20 per week for each dog.
