About us
The establishment, now known as The Highfield, boasts a rich and varied history.
Originally a private residence, it transformed into the Moorland Country Club in the 1950s. During the 1960s, it adopted the name the Baron, followed by a transition in the 1970s to become the Baron of Beef with the addition of a hotel. Throughout the ensuing years, it underwent several name changes, including the Idler, the Sporting Lodge, and The Balloon and Basket, until finally reemerging in the 21st century as The Highfield.
Local residents Paul and Deirdre Jennings, proprietors of Jennings Computer Engineering Ltd since its establishment in 1979, ventured into a new enterprise by purchasing the rebranded Highfield just before Christmas in 2009.
Upon acquisition, the property was in disrepair, having been abandoned for some time. Extensive refurbishment commenced in January 2010, following a particularly prolonged snowy winter.
