THE VALLEY

Benasque Valley is surrounded by the highest concentration of peaks over 3,000 meters in the Pyrenees, including the higher the Aneto (3,404 meters), a fact that gives an idea of ​​the spectacular nature of this area of ​​high mountain. The good conservation of this mountain range, certainly the largest in the Pyrenees massif, and its rich geology, fauna and flora, in 1994 led to the creation of Posets-Maladeta. This interesting protected area is located at the north end of the valley and covers an area of ​​33,440 hectares over with an impressive set of 13 glaciers, 95 lakes (small lakes) and glacial waterfalls of great beauty. The Natural Park Posets - Maladeta is at an altitude of between 1,500 and 3,404 meters, which allows for great biodiversity, extended to the rest of the valley, with some species endemic or endangered.
