La Maison du Bailli

This 15th -16th century cottage is one of our largest and most charming properties. Virtually nothing has been changed in the house since its construction. It has sculptured Renaissance windows, 2 wine cellars with direct access from the living room, large oak beams, original red tiled floors and white washed walls. All furniture is antique (several pieces as old as the house), the rugs are original oriental ones and the shed is filled with old tools we have found on the numerous “brocantes” held every summer in the region.

La Maison du Chameau

La Maison du Chameau is composed of 2 cottages: downstairs in the main cottage are the dining-room, the living-room, a kitchen with fireplace, glass ceramic stove, oven and a dish-washer and a large luxurious bathroom with a walk-in multi-jet spa shower and an antique roll-top bathtub. Upstairs are 2 large double bedrooms. The smaller cottage has a bedroom, a bathroom and a salon. The adjoining barn has a washing machine and a table tennis. The vaulted wine cellar contains wine for guests' consumption. The cottages are surrounded by a garden, a large South-facing terrace with deck-chairs and BBQ, as well as plenty of space and charm.

La Maison des Bénédictines

This cottage is our first gite in the village of Chantelle, where we live ourselves. It is located in the oldest part of the village, at the bottom of a cul-de-sac, right on the river escarpment (the garden is surrounded by low stone walls). The views from the house are therefore unrestricted and all you can see are treetops and white Charolais cows on the other side of the river valley, with a sound-track of birdsong and the meandering river below. Incidentally, this part of the village is the starting point of many hiking trails along the river Bouble, suitable for all levels of fitness. However, the trails do not pass directly in front of the cottage which therefore remains peaceful and tranquil.

The house has been totally modernised in 2007 and is composed of 2 double bedrooms (one with views over the valley), a very stylish bathroom (with separate toilet), a large sunny kitchen over-looking the garden (with lovely herb garden at your disposal), a dining room and a living-room with a gothic fire-place. There are no stairs, so it is ideal accommodation for a family with small children.

La Maison de la Tante

The cottage has a ground floor, a mezzanine, a courtyard and a wine cellar.

It is a cosy and romantic cottage for a couple, with one large living space (50 m2) and a mezzanine bedroom reached by the stone staircase, overlooking the entire room below and affording beautiful views of the original beams. It has a new bathroom, an open kitchen and a pleasant atmosphere. Outside, the small courtyard is planted with roses. The cellar has a small stock of wine and is pleasant and cool in the warm summer days.

La Maison de Dame Lapin

The cottage has 2 floors, both with large fireplaces. Upstairs is the dining-room with a large old table, the kitchenette and the bathroom. From the upper floor there is direct access to the part of a large garden which belongs to the cottage.

Downstairs is the bedroom with an old typical French bed (130 cm) and two lounge chairs next to the elevated fire-place. Outside is a small walled courtyard with vines on the walls, deck furniture and a BBQ.
