Le Moulin de Pommeuse
The Grand Morin, from the island, with the small waterfall at the bottom.
This river a little capricious rises in the department of Marne. The passage of Moulin has traveled more than 100km. Its waters join those of the Marne less than 20km, in the village of Sainte Condé Libiaire.
Here we are at the forefront of the island.
By the Grand Morin supplied water to the machinery of the mill, turning juqu'à 5 pairs of cylinders.
It was only a loan.
120mètres downstream, the waters reach return to the river.
Meanwhile, their strength has produced
up to 25,000 bushels of flour.
No further energy!
On the island
In summer season, between two arms of running water in the shade of acacia trees, is a popular place for a while reading, resting, or a fishing trip.
Not always easy to catch, but the fish abound.
Here young chub have also find the roach, trout, carp, pike (the last dose was 61cm) and perch (6 taken in one night recently) ...
The water quality and changes in fauna and aquatic flora of the Grand Morin are regularly measured both by the CNRS as the Ile de France and the senior management of the fishery.
