The period farmhouse dates back to Roman times and the
word 'Ball' is the Roman for 'Round Hill'. The old race course ground used for chariot races
is still on the farm. We are on the old Roman road to North Molton Hill and were the first
settlement on the S.W. side of ExmoorNational Park.
